.30 – .06

The US Army introduced the .30-06 in 1906. The “.30” refers to .30 inches bullet caliber. “06” is for its launch in 1906. Its introduction replaced the 30-03, 6mm Lee Navy and the .30—40 Krag cartridges. The .30-06 was the U.S. Army’s primary rifle and machine gun cartridge for almost 50 years. It was replaced by the 7.62 x 31 mm NATO and 5.56 x 45 mm NATO. Today, the .30-06 remains a popular sporting round
